About North County Land TrustFounded in 1999, this membership-based, grass roots organization has preserved over 200 acres of land through the use of voluntary conservation easements. To date, easements include the 119 acre Swan Creek Wetlands site owned by the Port of Baltimore, the 97 acre Constellation Energy easement at the headwaters of Nabbs Creek, and 6 acres along the Cabin Branch creek that feeds into the Patapsco River. The trust works with private landowners, corporations, as well as government agencies to preserve sensitive habitat in the northern Anne Arundel watershed. We also have an ongoing monitoring project at Swan Creek Wetlands in conjunction with the Aquarium Conservation Team (ACT) of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Under the expert guidance of the ACT team citizens can participate in planting and monitoring activities at the site.
